The Consistency Series
Turn chaos into control. Turn big misses into good misses. Turn 100 into 92.
IN THIS LESSON
Your Shot Pattern Is Your Superpower
High handicappers don’t struggle because they hit bad shots — they struggle because they don’t plan for the shots they actually hit. Dispersion is the natural spread of your shots left, right, long, and short. Once you understand it, you can use it to make smarter decisions.
1. Accept That Dispersion Is Normal
Even pros miss their target by:
5–10 metres left or right
5–10 metres long or short
Your dispersion is wider — and that’s okay. The goal is not to eliminate dispersion. The goal is to plan for it.
2. Identify Your Miss Pattern
Most high handicappers have a predictable miss:
Slice
Pull
Fat shot
Thin shot
Knowing your miss pattern lets you choose targets that protect it.
3. Aim to the Safe Side
If you slice:
Aim left of centre
Choose targets that give you room right
If you pull:
Aim right of centre
Protect the left side
4. Choose Clubs That Tighten Your Pattern
Some clubs explode your dispersion:
Driver
3‑wood
Long irons
Some clubs tighten it:
Hybrid
7‑iron
5‑wood off a tee
Use the clubs that keep your pattern predictable.
5. Build a “Dispersion Bubble”
Imagine a 30–50 metre bubble around your target. If the bubble stays away from trouble, you’re safe.
This is how you turn randomness into strategy.
